Structure matters
A sherwani is tailored like a long jacket, with interlining in the chest and a stiff band collar. Like a suit, it should never be machine washed. Dry cleaning and careful pressing keep the shape and the collar standing.
Buttons and work
Decorative buttons are often detachable or delicate. Remove detachable ones before sending; fixed ones are protected during cleaning. Embroidery on the front panel and cuffs is checked before and after.
