Why woollens shrink at home
Wool fibres have tiny scales that lock together when warm water and movement are combined. Once a sweater has felted, it can’t be stretched back. Dry cleaning removes dirt and body oils without that risk.
Pashmina and fine shawls
Pashmina and cashmere are fine, soft fibres that pill and lose their hand-feel if handled roughly. Shawls are cleaned individually and folded, not hung, so they don’t stretch. Price depends on size and work: ₹199 for a plain shawl up to ₹399 for large or embroidered pieces.
Moths and storage
Moths go for wool that carries body oil or food traces. That’s why woollens should always be cleaned before they’re put away at the end of winter, and checked when they come out in October. Small holes near the neck and underarms are a sign to clean everything in that cupboard.
